Posting a press release for a partner for like-minded MMO ADiKs! ^^
In an unprecedented industry move, e-Games Philippines, touted as the first free to play gaming and community portal in the country to encompass multiple game genres from Casual to MMORPG, has set January 24, 2006 for the simultaneous open beta launch of its three debut titles, 02 Jam, RAN Online and Battle Position.
The tri-open beta launch is a curious move considering most game publishers often prefer to highlight one game at a time. However, Steve Tsao, COO of e-Games, is confident each of their games will be able to stand on its own. "We are launching these games at once because they cater to different customers (O2Jam/ RAN/ BP), and we want to create a big impact and have the largest community."
Tsao pointed out that each of their games have had proven track records in highly-competitive, battle-tested international markets, such as Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand and Malaysia. "Our games are AAA titles, no doubt. O2Jam is the most popular online music game in the world. And RAN Online is the most popular item purchase-based MMORPG of its kind. They have beaten the competition consistently because of better game play and content, and we are optimistic they will carry over here."
Despite the increasingly competitve online gaming market, e-Games CEO Enrique Gonzalez believes that "this is a situation where supply will drive demand. New content will attract new players and will drive the industry upwards. This is a good development for the Philippine gaming industry."
Added Tsao, "We have tremendous respect for our competition, and hope that all of us combined can accelerate the growth of this industry."
According to Gonzalez, the date also holds some karmic value. "The date itself is very fortuitous," he cited. "January 24 is close to the Chinese New Year, marking a new year and a new beginning for Philippine Gaming. On January 24, Free to Play is born."
